I Don't "Have" People. I Have Access.
Intel Brief
If you talk about reps like they're inventory, you'll start treating them like inventory. Recruiting isn't inventory management — it's competition.

I get asked this all the time and it bothers me to no end.
I know what people mean…
…but the phrasing is brutal:
“Do you have people who can XYZ?”
Have?
Like… own them?
Uhhhhh.
And before somebody says “bro you’re being dramatic” —
No, I’m not confused about the intent.
I’m saying word choices matter because they reveal the mindset underneath.
Because if you talk about reps like they’re inventory… you’ll start treating them like inventory.
And that’s how we ended up in this space where reps feel like disposable cogs:
Plug one in. If it doesn’t work in 2 weeks, toss it. Order another one.
Is that how we should treat the lifeblood of our businesses, let alone ANYONE?
No.
In this space, reps aren’t “had.”
They have options. They have agency. They choose.
Recruiting isn’t inventory management.
It’s competition.
Your offer isn’t being evaluated in a vacuum.
It’s being compared to every other option that rep has.
So no… I don’t “have” people.
I have a network… and a reputation that can attract the right humans into the right environment.
I have ACCESS, not inventory.
God’s word says death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Language becomes culture faster than people realize.
