Show the Ramp, Not the Top Number

Intel Brief

If a company won't tell you what month one actually looks like, you already know the answer.

Saw a Casino closer job pst that did something i rarely see

It showed the ramp of expected comms over time.

Base sits at 2k.

Then they sectioned off the climb.

4k month one. 5.5k by month three. 6.5k from month six on. PLUS a bonus per appointment that shows and 1% of whatever your bookings close.

it was a smaller ticket offer, more of a volume game.

Fine, that's not the point.

THE POINT is they told you how long it takes to get to the number.

Here's the thing about comm-only and comm-heavy roles.

The number on the flyer is almost NEVER your month-one paycheck. It belongs to who's been there for 6 months with a full calendar, a healthy close rate and time for his pipeline to close some deals.

THAT guy's pocket is what they put on the post.

New reps are starting at zero and they have to build a pipeline from the ground up.

Far to many job posts will HAPPILY let you assume you walk in day one and pull what the veteran pulls.

You won't.

The team's number is where you're trying to GET. You're nowhere near it yet.

That distance is the ramp... and more companies need to be transparent about it. This post did.

And that one little section tells me more about how they treat reps than the entire rest of the listing.

It's a VERY good sign.

So, the lesson here is reps, before you sign anything comm-only and they don't tell you how long "Ramp" is....ASK.

Forget the "OTE", not the "closer's best month", none of that [usually inflated] garbage.

The RAMP.

"What does month one actually look like. month three. month six."

AND if they get weird about answering that, you already know.

And a note to biz owners, if you're proud of your top guy's number, cool.

Now map out the climb for the newcomers. You're near-zero churn rate will thank you.
