Stop Hiring When You Can't Feed the Team You Have

Intel Brief

If reps are quitting because there isn't enough work, hiring more people isn't the fix.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, we all know.

Yet HOW MANY companies here at the Casino do it like it's an SOP?

Especially when it comes to hiring sales reps. It's one of the big contributors to the BRUTAL turnover this space is known for.

Here's one for you I had happen recently.

Company wants to put out job ads for more reps. But reps are quitting because there ALREADY isn't enough work to go around.

Ok... so people are quitting because they can't make money. And your thought is to hire MORE people?

If the lead flow is sparse, what makes you think hiring will fix it?

Make it make sense.

Your offer can slap. Doesn't matter. You're trying to hedge against a zero-person sales team by replacing reps faster than they quit.

But ALL you're doing is perpetuating the problem and taking a bazooka to your reputation while you're at it.

You clearly overhired.

Why not take the opposite approach and first go LEAN?

Reduce the OBVIOUS bloat. Get the remainder of the team in a better place where they're fat and happy, fully fed.

THEN bring somebody in.

Hiring someone you CANNOT feed who you KNOW is going to quit for the SAME reason the last left is on YOU.

You're playing with people's livelihood here. This is not a joke.

Stop acting like a spoiled greedy child.

Welcome to the Casino.
