Stop Looking for a Forever Home in the Casino

Intel Brief

The high-ticket space is volatile by nature — the skill isn't finding the perfect role, it's knowing when to fold and stay nimble.

Operator Note

Looking for a "forever home" in the Casino is how you get wrecked.

This is the land of start-ups.

HIGH volatility.

Agressive oscilations.

Rug-pulls around ever corner.

Which means good like making a "home" when going hero to zero is a regular daily occurrence.

The goal isn't to find the perfect role, lock in, and then see ya in 5 years.

The goal is to be NIMBLE.

Stay sharp, stay ready, and treat every role like a chapter in your story, not the whole book.

Long-term thinking works in the macro.

I.e. "I want to be in the space for a long time."

But it does NOT work in the micro.

There are FAR too many variables outside of your control as an independent contractor to "make a role work no matter what."

One algorithm change.

One broken funnel.

One founder wakes up on the wrong side of the bed one morning.

You didn't do anything wrong, the table just went cold.

You got delt a bad hand.

Impossible to plan around that.

The skill to making a long-term CAREER in High-Ticket is knowing WHEN an offer is cooked and it's time to move on.

And no, for all the gooroos out there, that's not the same as being flaky.

Flaky people bounce at the FIRST sign of friction.

Nimble, intellegent people read the data and make a business decision (1099 contractors are business owners too, ya know).

Big difference.

And to address the naysayers getting ready to smash their keyboards,

I'm NOT suggesting you have a "waiting for it to fail" or "one foot in, one foot out" type of attitude.

That's no good either.

It's about recognizing REALITY for what it is.

This space is VOLATILE.

And that doesn't need to be anyone's fault.

Building a business is hard.

Accept the things outside your control.

Do everything you can to make something work.

But don't kneecap yourself just because some clueless founder is gonna call you a quitter if you bounce from his failing offer.

You're a flippin' 1099 CONTRACTOR.

You coming or going is a BUSINESS DECISION.

You can do your BEST wherever you are, and then LEAVE when it no longer makes sense to stay.

Non-emotional.

No guilt required.

No apology necessary.

Blind, weaponized loyalty to a situation that just flat out no longer serves you isn't loyalty.

It's self-sabotage.

Sometimes folding is the BEST move. It keeps you in the game.
