And I understand the rationale.
On the surface, it FEELS respectful.
“Why waste their time if I already know I’m not taking the role?”
But that's faulty thinking.
Canceling interviews has near-ZERO upside.
For reps: it puts a splotch on your reputation and kills opportunities you may need to revisit later.
For companies: you lose visibility on good candidates who could have been a fit down the road but never finish the process.
And switching offers is already when most reps lose the most money.
That transition is usually where average monthly income takes the biggest hit.
Reps need to be selling as much as possible and also at the same time avoid any downtime as much as possible.
