The Arsonist's Playbook: Why Generic Sales Training Is Destroying Your Process

Intel Brief

Sales training and processes must be built organically from a company's unique offer and market, rather than relying on generic scripts peddled by industry gurus who then sell software to fix the problems they created.

Is it just me, or are more and more sales-trainer gooroos suddenly rolling out “proprietary” Sales Management SaaS?

It's the classic HT Casino Playbook in full force:

Step 1: Create the problem with their one-size-fits-all,“no, stupid, say it like THIS” assembly-line closing scripts.

Step 2: Watch reps (with good intentions) try to force-feed a sales style built for a completely different offer(the gooroo’s offer… funny how that works).

Step 3: Watch buyers resist because the rep has zero domain control and the convo feels robotic, weird, and manufactured.

Step 4: Performance tanks. Rep is blammed. Chaos ensues.

Step 5 (my favorite): Said gooroo MAGICALLY pops out from behind the curtain with:

“Ta-Daaaaa! We built a tool to fix the issues you’re having!”…issues they engineered.

Now enter the “proprietary” Sales Management SaaS(that was also designed around the gooroos offer, not yours).

Here’s the uncomfortable, non-loony-toon truth that might make you lose your shirt.

Your sales process and structure SHOULD be proprietary, 100%.

But proprietary does NOT mean slapping your logo on recycled scripts that every other offer out there is ALSO borrowing.

REAL, proprietary training must be built from the INSIDE-out:

- From the unique offer

- From the unique buyer

- From the product’s actual value mechanics

- From how your market thinks, fears, decides, compares, hesitates, and buys...

NOT from some gooroo's universal word tracks that only work in his imaginary sandbox.

If you don’t build it from the inside out, you’re just duct-taping external templates onto internal problems…

And then acting surprised when the whole thing catches fire.

It’s like watching the arsonist show up wearing a fire-inspector badge.
